Introduction

I met the Lotus Sutra many years ago on a sunny day. A friend of mine whom I had not seen for so long, told me about this wonderful Sutra. For a person like me, in search of an achievement that goes beyond materiality, the Lotus Sutra has had a profound impact. Universally regarded as the King of the Sutras, practiced and invoked by millions of people around the world, the Lotus Sutra is of capital importance in the history of Buddhism. His wonderful teachings have guided and guide the lives of many people around the world. It is a really exciting text for his fantastic tales and his wonderful parables.

To understand the essence of the Lotus Sutra one must understand the numerous parables present in the narration. The parable is a skillful means, or stratagem, to help people better understand difficult concepts or teachings. The profound teachings of the Lotus Sutra are crystallized in his parables. Understanding the numerous parables means having the whole text in your hand. Many think that the first person to use this particular method of narration was Jesus of Nazareth. As we know, the Lotus Sutra is indeed much earlier than the Bible. My advice is to read and reread every parabola until you realize that, as if by magic, its meaning will open before your eyes. You do not have to do much, but only read with an open heart, not convinced to know already, because you would really lose the greatness of all this.

Let yourself be carried away by the narration and, if you want, write notes and considerations. Through this simple work you will have the opportunity to enter the main door and you will be amazed by the greatness and sacredness that covers this ancient sacred text that has come down to us to continue to guide anyone who has in heart the sincere desire to reform their lives according to the Buddha’s teachings. Take care of your spirit as you have of your body and remember that, as stated by the Buddha himself in chapter 16 of the Lotus Sutra, the Buddha is always beside you from eternity and his constant desire is to free us from suffering and lead us to Blessed illumination. You may take a special moment of your day and dedicate it to reading the parables of the Lotus Sutra. What better liturgy?
